INTERN – GENDER AND ECONOMY (PROGRAMME AND RESEARCH SUPPORT)

A. Duties and Responsibilities

The intern will be responsible for:

 

Programme Support:

 

- Help facilitate, coordinate and support regional seminars and consultations as required;

- Provide administrative support as may be required by the IGPR team in specific aspects of project implementation.

 

Research Support:

 

- Provide inputs and support to IGPR work on gender and economy;

- Review and copy-edit draft research papers;

- Conduct literature reviews as well as draft, edit and/or provide comments on project concept notes/proposals and other related tion;

- Generate quantitative data tables and graphs, and consolidate and update references lists as inputs to research papers and briefs as and when requested;

- Provide ad hoc technical inputs as may be required by the IGPR team in specific aspects of research project implementation.

C. Required Skills and Experience


 

Education:

 

- Current enrolment in a masters or equivalent degree in economics, gender and development, international development or related field;

- Note that candidates that have graduated are not eligible for internship.

 

Experience:

 

- Knowledge about areas of international development and economics;

- Prior experience in fields relevant to gender and development is preferred.

 

Language:

 

- Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

 

Interns' Expenses:

 

Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP. All costs connected with an intern's participation in the Programme must be borne by: the nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his/her own arrangements for travel (including to and from the office), visas, accommodation, etc.

 

Subsequent Employment:

The purpose of the Internship Programme is not to lead to further employment with UNDP but to complement an intern's studies. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship.
